Massage during pregnancy is a wonderful way to relax and research has shown that massage therapy performed during pregnancy can reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains, and improve labour outcomes and newborn health.
Any massage during pregnancy is only recommended during the second and third trimester. We will ensure that both Mother and Baby are as comfortable as possible throughout the treatment, working on easing any aches and pains.
Pregnancy Massage can help alleviate many of the symptoms and conditions associated with pregnancy. During this amazing time of physical and emotional change, massage can be of enormous benefit to both the mother and baby.
How often should I have pregnancy massage?
We would advise you let your body be the guide; most of our clients visit every 1-4 weeks, and tend to increase the frequency, as they get closer to their due date.
Receiving regular massage whilst pregnant can make you more aware of your body. This can help you relax during the first stage of labour often resulting in shorter and easier births, less pain and a lower rate of postnatal complications. Furthermore it can lead to increased breast feeding success due to prolactin and mammary development.
Your therapist has a diploma in pregnancy massage and abdominal massage and is familiar with pregnancy massage techniques.
Please check that your midwife or GP is happy for you to proceed with massage therapy before booking
